Asbestos Can Cause
Illnesses Other Than
Mesothelioma As Well
While it is commonly known that asbestos exposure can lead to the development of mesothelioma, asbestosis, and other types of lung cancer later in life, it must not be ignored that asbestos can lead to the
development of other illnesses too.
Monday’s edition of Dr. Paul Donohue’s syndicated “To Your Health” column dealt with a question asked about a 79-year-old man who
was recently diagnosed with chronic
obtrusive pulmonary disease, or COPD.
While the disease - which is actually
made up of two illnesses: emphysema
and chronic bronchitis - is known primarily as a smoker ’s sickness, the man being discussed had never
smoked tobacco.
